Easy Crock Pot Beans | Frijoles Fácil Crock Pot

One of the first dishes that I learned how to make is beans. I learned how to make them in a pot checking up on them every 15 minutes for over 6 hours. There are times when I would completely forget about the beans and end up burning them for lack of water. One time, I went grocery shopping forgetting I had them cooking! Thank God our home did not burn down and the beans did not burn. After this happened, I decided to make them in a crock pot. This is the easiest way of doing them without the worry of them burning. Yes it will take a bit longer but its worth it to let you do other housework. The things you will need are...

  • Beans (Pinto, Black, or Persian)
  • Salt
  • Half an onion (optional)
  • Water
  • Crock Pot

1. Choose the beans you wish to cook.

2. Make sure the beans you choose are not broken or chipped. Pour 3-5 cups of beans into the crock pot and rinse them thoroughly.

3. Slice half of your onion and place into crock pot.

4. Fill the crock pot with water.

5. Place pot into the crock and set the heat to high.

6. Let it come to a boil.

7. If the pot needs more water add until filled to the top and cover up again.

8. After about 2-3 hours check to see if the beans are soft. If not soft, cover them up and let cook until soft.

9. Once soft, add salt to your liking. It will take 4-6 hours for the beans to cook fully.

10. Let cool and serve with queso fresco and tapatio.

ENJOY!
