- A box of chocolate cake mix
- About 9 eggs
- Oil
- 1 can of Condensed milk
- 1 can of Evaporated milk
- Vanilla
- 1/2-1 cup of Sugar
- 2 baking dishes
- Heat up your oven at 375 degrees
1. Make the cake mix. Once the mixed well, set aside.
2. In a blender add six eggs, the condensed milk, the evaporated milk, and a spoonful of vanilla.
3.Blend thoroughly and set aside.
4. In a pan add the 1/2-1 cup of sugar on high heat.
5. Mix the sugar until it is melted, but be careful that it does not burn or you burn yourself.
6. Once the sugar is all melted, add it to a baking dish and spread it around as fast as possible. The sugar will harden.
7. Add butter around to the rest of the dish so the chocolate mixture does not stick.
8. You can do this step in two ways. Number one, you can pour the flan mixture first then the cake mix. Or number two, you can add the cake mixture first then the flan mixture. If you do it the second way, the flan mixture will descend to the bottom but you will need to wait until its all at the bottom before baking. I did it the first method, and it worked perfectly.
9. Place the baking dish in another baking dish and add water half way up. Cover with foil.
This step is called Baño Maria or water bath and its done so the bottom flan mixture bakes fully.
10. Place in oven and let bake for about an hour. After an hour, with a toothpick or fork check if the cake and flan are baked. If not, leave it in for another hour. Mine took 2 hours to fully bake.
11. After the 2 hours are done, check if the chocoflan is baked thoroughly. If the fork or toothpick come out clean, then its ready.
12. Remove from oven and let cool before removing it from the baking dish. Once cooled down, flip the baking dish over a plate and let the chocflan slide onto it.
13. Let the chocflan sit so the melted sugar drains into the cake mixture. This will make it moist and not dry.
ENJOY!
