Teriyaki Chicken with White Rice | Teriyaki Pollo con Arroz Blanco

One of the things that I love about my Mother, is that she can make any kind of dish.  When we first encountered this different dish, my Sisters and I were so surprised that she made us something that was not Mexican food. We instantly fell in love with it. Yes we can go to Flame Boiler, or a Sushi place, but to be able to make this Teriyaki dish has to be the most exciting thing.  Well, at least for me. The first time I made this was for my Husband. Poor guy, my first try came out to be not that great.  He sweetly said, "It was good but the chicken was weird."  I pondered on why and what was wrong with the chicken and got my answer when my Mother explained to me what I did wrong. Ladies, practice makes perfect so shrug that first attempt off and keep trying.  Something is bound to come out delicious. Never give up. Cooking is like a masterpiece, you can add anything you want! For this dish you will need...

  • Chicken (Thighs or breast)
  • Teryaki Sauce
  • White rice
  • Water
  • Pot
  • Pan
  • Butter
  • Salt

1. Choose the pieces of chicken you would like.

2. Cut up your chicken breasts into cubes and cook on a pan.

3. While the chicken is boiling, get a pot and add 2 cups of water.

4. Let water boil.

5. Once water is boiling, place on low heat and add 1 cup of rice.

6. Cover Rice and let sit for 15-20 minutes

7. When chicken is cooked thoroughly, add Teriyaki sauce to the chicken.

8. Let simmer for 5-7 minutes or long enough to let the sauce marinate through the chicken.

9. Once rice is tender, you may add 1 tsp of butter and 1 tsp of salt.

10. Add Rice to a bowl and the Teriyaki Chicken on top. Add Sriracha sauce to your liking.

ENJOY!
