Onion Rings | Aros de cebolla

One of my most favorite side dishes is Onion rings! Any chance I get to order them at a restaurant I do. But to be honest sometimes they are so expensive and they only serve a handful of them. One day at the store, they had a sale on Onions. I decided to grab about 5 large onions, but my Husband was confused and asked, "What you going to do with all those onions?" In which I shrugged and continued shopping. A few days later I was craving some onion rings and did not have any place near me to buy them and then I remembered I had bought all those onions. I quickly decided to try and make them just to subside my craving. And they turned out so delicious! Like any other recipes, you can make them in different ways you just need to find the recipe that works best for you. The following recipe worked perfectly for me. The things you will need are...

  • One large onion
  • Flour
  • Eggs
  • Salt
  • Milk
  • Breadcrumbs (Seasoned or non your choice)

1. Grab the onion and remove the top layer.

2. Cut the onion about 1/2 inch thick.

3. Separate the rings and set them aside.

4. Now grab a bowl and crack one egg, add 1/2 cup of regular milk, 1/2 tablespoons of all purpose flour, and a teaspoon of salt.

5. Whisk them all together.

6. Grab 2-4 rings and let them soak.

7. Then transfer the ring into a bowl filled with flour and cover the ring with the flour.

8. Then transfer them back flour into the egg mix.

10. Transfer the onions into a bowl of breadcrumbs.

11. Let the onion rings sit to dry for about 20 minutes.

12. After they are dry, put them in a pan with hot oil and let them cook.

13. Once they are golden brown remove from oil and place on plate with a napkin to drain the excess oil.

14. Once cooled down, serve with your choice of main dish or just as a side.

ENJOY!
