Buñuelos Mexicanos

One of my all time favorite dessert treats are Buñuelos. They have such a delicious twist that makes you want to curl up next to the fire and sip your hot chocolate. All it is, is a fried tortilla with sugar and cinnamon sprinkled over them.  This treat will be great not only for your Thanksgiving dinner, but for your Christmas dinner as well. It is also a great treat for kids, but it can get a bit messy. The things you will need are...

  • Flour tortillas
  • Oil
  • 1/4 cup of regular sugar
  • 1/4 cup of powder cinnamon
  • Deep skillet

1. Heat up a deep skillet with fresh oil half way up.

2. In a bowl add the 1/4 cups of sugar and cinnamon and mix.

3. Once the oil is hot, drop in a flour tortilla.

4. Let the tortilla fry. It will inflate so be careful not to burn yourself with the steam.

5. Flip the tortilla over so the second side can fry.

6. Once both sides are fried, remove and let the excess oil drip off.

7. Let the tortilla cool down for a minute then transfer to the bowl with the sugar and cinnamon.

8. Sprinkle the mixture all over the tortilla on both sides evenly and tap off the excess.

9. Once both sides are evenly coated, transfer to a plate and serve!

ENJOY!
