Lasagna

My Husband was having lunch one day at work, and one of his coworkers had brought lasagna for lunch. He then asked me to make some for him and I said sure one of these days. Well let's say it took me about 3 months or so to finally make it. Not because I didn't want to, but because I did not have a recipe in mind. I then finally found a really good recipe to follow. I was a bit nervous to put this to try since in truth, this was the first time ever I have made this dish. I was so excited when it came out so delicious that I even had seconds! It was finger licking good! You will not be disappointed. The things you will need are...

  • Lasagna Pasta
  • 1 pint of Ricotta Cheese
  • 1/2-1 pound of Ground beef
  • 1 Large onion
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 table spoon of fresh Basil
  • 1 teaspoon of dried Oregano
  • 2 tablespoons of Brown Sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of Salt
  • 2 six ounces of Tomato Paste
  • 29 ounce of Diced tomatoes
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 cup of Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of dried Parsley
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Foil

1. Pre heat your oven at 375 degrees.

2. In a pot, cook about 12 noodles of lasagna with a palm full of salt.

3. Chop up 1 large onion, 2 cloves of garlic, and 1 table spoon of fresh basil.

4. In a pan, cook 1/2 to 1 pound of ground beef and add the onion and garlic.

5. When noodles are cooked remove from pot and strain them adding cold water so they do not stick.

6. Once the meat is brown, drain any excess fat that the meat has let out.

7. After fat is drained out, add 1 tablespoon of the fresh basil, teaspoon of dried oregano, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of salt. Mix all together.

8. Add the 2 six ounces of tomatoes paste and mix.

9. Add the 29 ounce of sliced tomatoes and mix.

10. Let the meat simmer for about 30-45 minutes stirring to make sure it does not stick or burn.

11. In a bowl, add two eggs.

12. Beat them together and add the 1 pint of Ricotta Cheese

13. Add half of a cup of Parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons of dried parsley  (I didn't have dried parsley so I used some fresh parsley and it came out tasting the same), and 1 teaspoon of salt.

14. Mix it all together until the filling is smooth.

15. Now we are ready to put it all together. You should have the meat sauce, noodles the ricotta filling and the shredded mozzarella.

16. In an oven baking dish add some of the meat sauce to the bottom spreading it all around so the lasagna won't stick.

17. Place four noodles across the dish.

18. Cove the noodles with half of the filling.

19. Add mozzarella cheese over the top.

20. Then add the 3rd of the meat sauce.

21. Repeat steps 17-20

22. After you repeat step 20, add the last of the four noodles and the rest of the meat sauce. Finish it off with Parmesan cheese sprinkled through out the top.

23. Cover the dish with foil (You may spray non stick vegetable oil on the foil) and place in the oven for 1 hour. After one hour, remove foil and let bake for another 20 minutes.

24. After time is up, make sure the top is golden and remove from oven to cool.

25. Cut and serve with garlic bread.

ENJOY!

Below is the recipe I used.
